I have a feeling that 2020 is going to be Capacitor hell. Last night I pulled out the MSD SD-1 IEEE/IEC floppy for the BBS. The main PCB looked fine, with only a few caps… but the floppy mech has and upper and lower board that is riddled with bad stuff. I was lucky that the CBM8050 was pretty clean.
Most of the annoying work is the BOM, my eyes are cracking trying to read the parts and find the right size replacements. I’ll post more pics as I go through the drives, technically I have three floppy mechs to fix as there is an SD2 right behind it. I’ll post BOM too.
